Ultrapac™ HL-ALD / HL-MSD Heatless Compressed Air Dryers

Developed with the benefit of Donaldson’s decades of design and manufacturing expertise, the Ultrapac™ HL-ALD and HL-MSD series are engineered to deliver consistently high-purity air with outstanding energy efficiency. They offer reliable performance at a working pressure of 7 bar g (100 psig), with flow rates ranging from 100 to 8,750 m³/h (59 to 5,150 scfm).

These fully automatic dryers provide two outlet dew point options: the ALD model delivers a -40 °C (-40 °F) pressure dew point (pdp), while the MSD model offers a drying level between -40 °C and -70 °C (-40 °F to -94 °F), depending on operating conditions.

All Ultrapac™ HL series dryers come equipped with pre- and post-filters featuring UltraPleat™ technology. The coalescing pre-filter is integrated with the zero-loss Ultramat™ condensate drain system. Thanks to their compact design, these dryers require minimal floor space and offer efficient use of available area.

Donaldson Ultrapac™ Smart

Ultrapac™ Smart is a compressed air treatment system that combines all process steps required to achieve pure compressed air — from pre-filtration and heatless regenerated adsorption drying to fine filtration and condensate removal. The compact, stand-alone version can be used as a direct plug-and-play solution. By using this compact purification unit, installation and maintenance costs can be significantly reduced while producing clean, silicone-free compressed air.

The integrated pre-filter captures solid particles and suspended matter, as well as liquid aerosols (oil/water). The adsorption dryer removes moisture from the compressed air down to a pressure dew point of -70 °C / -94 °F at 70% nominal load (standard: -40 °C / -40 °F). In the final step, remaining solid particles down to 0.01 μm are retained by the integrated post-filter.

Thanks to its three-stage purification system, compressed air quality in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2010 is reliably achieved — corresponding to, and even exceeding, the specified quality classes 1-2: 1-2 and 0 depending on the application.

To support internal processes and product integrity, Ultrapac Smart is used as the final treatment stage directly at the point of consumption.

Modular Design & Innovative UltraPleat™ Filtration Technology

Ultrapac Smart impresses with its variably arranged modules and flexible installation options. Whether standing, vertical, horizontal, or wall-mounted — Ultrapac Smart always adapts to spatial conditions. In addition, the inlet and outlet compressed air connections can be aligned in different directions, and the pre-filter and post-filter are integrated into the adsorption dryer.

UltraPleat filtration technology features a new structure of coated high-tech fibers processed into a pleated filter media, offering high separation efficiency for liquid particles and a large adsorption capacity for solid contaminants.

Quiet Operation & Service-Friendly Cartridge

Made possible by the development of the powerful UltraSilencer, Ultrapac Smart is significantly quieter than comparable adsorption dryers. It operates with a noise emission level of only around 60 dB — equivalent to normal conversation volume — effectively contributing to noise reduction in the workplace.

The complete package is designed for easy maintenance and servicing. All relevant components are easily accessible; filter elements and the desiccant cartridge can be replaced quickly and effortlessly.

The switch between adsorption and cartridge regeneration only occurs when the dryer is saturated, triggered by a dew point sensor integrated into the Superplus variant. The pressure dew point remains consistently below -40 °F / -40 °C, ensuring high efficiency and operational reliability.
