Cyclone Water Separators

Separation of free water in compressed air and gas systems is critical for system performance and equipment safety. Our water separators, with an advanced design, effectively separate moisture and water, preventing wear and corrosion in the system. With solutions tailored to your industrial needs, we offer long‑lasting and efficient operation.

AG‑Z Cyclone Water Separator

Donaldson AG-Z Cyclone Water Separator

Donaldson cyclone water separators remove bulk water and particulates from compressed air and gases with low pressure drop. AG‑Z is a three‑piece aluminum housing with vortex vanes. The vanes generate centrifugal force that directs liquid and particulates toward the housing wall.

Friction against the housing causes the liquid and particulates to lose part of their kinetic energy and drop out of the high‑velocity air stream.

This product is used at flow rates from 1.529 m³/s to 2.379 m³/s (900 to 1,400 scfm) at 7 bar / 100 psig.

How does it work?

Vortex vanes force the compressed air to change direction and form a vortex. During this vortex motion, water and oil droplets, being too heavy, cannot be carried along by the compressed air stream.

Dry, compressed air exits through the center of the AG‑Z, while the previously aerosolized droplets collect at the bottom of the housing to be drained.

• Flow‑optimized design – low pressure drop for energy savings
• Innovative compression fitting – high efficiency for flow rates up to 1400 scfm
• Minimum spare parts – no elements required
• UF‑Z timed condensate drain

DF-C Cyclone Water Separator

Donaldson DF‑C cyclone separators are designed for the efficient removal of water and particulates from compressed air and gases.

Donaldson DF-C Cyclone Water Separator

Donaldson DF‑C cyclone separators provide high separation efficiency at low pressure drop thanks to an optimized flow path design. An innovative insert in the cyclone head generates centrifugal force that directs liquid and particles toward the housing wall.

Friction with the housing causes the liquid and particulates to lose part of their kinetic energy and drop out of the high‑velocity air stream. The collected condensate is removed by a timed UF‑Z condensate drain, while the purified compressed air or gas proceeds to the downstream industrial application.

Available in six sizes with flow ranges from 119 to 1,099 m³/h (70 to 647 scfm) at 7 bar / 100 psig. Compliant with European Directive 97/23/EC for pressure vessels.

• Flow‑optimized design – low pressure drop for energy savings
• Innovative compression insert – high efficiency across a wide flow range
• Bayonet lock prevents the housing from opening under pressure – ensures high safety during operation
• Dip‑laminated housing on both inner and outer surfaces – long‑term corrosion protection
• Wall mounting support and UFM‑D electronic level‑controlled condensate drain options – installation and application flexibility
• Minimum spare parts – no filter elements required

SG-Z Cyclone Water Separator

The carbon steel Donaldson SG‑Z cyclone water separator uses centrifugal force to remove free‑floating water from compressed air and gases.

Donaldson SG-Z Cyclone Water Separator

The Donaldson SG‑Z cyclone separator is designed for the purification of air and other gases in industrial applications. Housings with vortex vanes deliver low differential pressures at high flow rates. Aerosols and particulates are retained on the filter bowl wall by centrifugal force.

The SG‑Z is also available in a Superplus version supplied with an electronically controlled UFM‑D zero‑loss drain. A ball valve is installed between the drain and the housing to facilitate maintenance.

This product series offers six different housings for volumetric flow rates from 1,650 to 15,000 m³/h (971 to 8,829 scfm) at 7 bar(g) / 100 psig. The SG‑Z cyclone separator complies with the requirements of European Directive 2014/68/EU for pressure vessels.

• Flow‑optimized design – low pressure drop for energy savings.
• Extra baffle plate installed – prevents aerosols from carrying over from the collection point.
• Minimum spare parts – no elements required.

Donaldson SG-Z Cyclone Water Separator

SG‑Z Cyclone Separator is designed to remove droplets and aerosols from air and gases in various industrial applications. The housing design, optimized with vortex vanes, ensures low pressure drop while maintaining high flow capacity. Centrifugal force directs droplets and aerosols to the housing wall, where they collect in the separator chamber.

The SG‑C Superplus version is equipped with an electronically controlled UFM‑D zero‑loss condensate drain valve for enhanced functionality. A ball valve integrated between the drain and the housing facilitates maintenance.

This series is offered in six different housing sizes supporting volume flows from 1,650 to 11,000 m³/h (971 – 6,470 scfm) and is optimized for an operating pressure of 7 bar(g) / 100 psig. The SG‑C series is fully compliant with the European Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU.

• Flow optimization – provides high‑performance operation through low pressure drop that supports energy efficiency.
• Additional baffle plate – helps prevent aerosols from carrying over from the collection chamber.
• Minimal maintenance requirements – requires no filter element, reducing maintenance time and cost.
• Durable construction – epoxy‑coated carbon steel housing for corrosion resistance and long service life.
