Aftercooler

The aftercooler is installed immediately after the compressor and economically cools the compressed air while removing bulk water from the airflow.

The cooler operates on a counterflow procedure in which hot compressed air is cooled by eliminating heat through cooling tubes filled with cold water. The condensate is then discharged using a cyclone separator.

The aftercooler enhances the efficiency of the compressed air system by reducing the condensation of water vapor and minimizing the risk of corrosion on equipment. By lowering the air temperature, the cooling process decreases the humidity level in the air, which improves air quality and extends the system's lifespan. Additionally, it optimizes energy consumption, as the cooling is achieved through a natural process, minimizing additional energy costs.

Our Aftercooler Models

are equipped with high-quality and reliable solutions from the Donaldson brand. These models effectively cool the hot air at the compressor outlet, increasing the efficiency of your air system. Designed with Donaldson’s engineering expertise, the aftercoolers condense water vapor, reduce condensate formation, and thereby extend the lifespan of your equipment. Offered in various capacity options, our models provide ideal solutions for all types of industrial applications and optimize energy efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn More About Our Aftercooler Devices

An aftercooler is a device used to cool the hot compressed air coming from the compressor. As the air is cooled, the moisture within it condenses, allowing water vapor and particles to be separated. This process reduces the risk of corrosion in air systems and extends the lifespan of equipment.

An aftercooler operates by cooling hot air through cooling tubes. As the hot air passes over these tubes, heat is transferred to the cold water inside them, resulting in cooled air. The moisture in the cooled air then condenses and is discharged via a cyclone separator.

An aftercooler ensures energy efficiency in air systems, removes water vapor, and improves air quality. It also prevents water and moisture from damaging system components, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion and other potential failures. As a result, the system operates more efficiently and has a longer service life.

Aftercooler maintenance includes regularly cleaning the cooling tubes, ensuring proper airflow, and routinely draining the condensate water. Periodic inspections should also be carried out to make sure there are no blockages or water buildup within the system.
